FINLAND PHOTO

May 21st, 2010

At the start of the year a good friend of mine, lets call him Mitch, asked me very politely if I would mind letting him take some photos of me for his portfolio.

Now Mitch and I have been friends for awhile, and I was quite flattered that he would ever ask me to do this... I have never really done anything like this before in my life, and wouldn’t have a clue about how to ‘pose’ for a photo… ask my mum, she’s always complaining cause all I do is flip off the camera.

Anyway, boring story short is, Mitch was a legend, and just wanted to take a couple of photos of me being me… except minus a tee shirt. The photos were for his black and white collection of his friends with tattoos.

I don’t know how he did it, but the photos came out alright. The magazine POST MODERN INK asked Mitch to submit some photos to be considered for the magazine, and low and behold, mine got selected.

So if you are interested, check out Mitch’s photos on page 41 in the current issue of POST MODERN INK at your local magazine shop.

Mitch goes by the photography alias of FINLAND… to see more of his work click below...

SOUNDWAVE 2010... FINALLY!

May 4th, 2010

I really don’t have a decent excuse as to why this has taken me so long to put up… apart from the fact I have been working 60 plus hours a week for the last 4 months..?

I have, however, almost forgotten how to do run the back end of my website… but being a nerd is kinda like riding a bike…

SOUNDWAVE 2010 – what a day hey!

For me is started on the Friday. I rushed to my screen printer to pick up the new tees to be released at Soundwave, then picked my friend Dan up at the airport and we ventured into my good friend Paul’s shop KILL THE MUSIC in Brisbane City. Escape the Fate were doing an instore signing and I was speechless as to the ‘beatle-mania’ scene that I walked into… girls squealing, pushing, shoving, crying, it was ridiculous, and I hope to never see anything like it again in my life!

Afterwards, I loaded up my van with KILL THE MUSIC’s gear and went and had some dinner. Shortly after I got a call and went and met up with a couple of old friends from Macbeth Footwear, Blunt Magazine, and Destroy All Lines, who were with some new friends including A Day To Remember, Set Your Goals, Comeback Kid and Four Year Strong. Im pretty shy, especially around this sort of crew, but it was interesting to just sit back and listen to the conversations going on around me… The night did end on a low unfortunately, with me breaking my finger by jamming it in my van’s side sliding door, it actually still hurts almost 3 months later!

The next day started early, meeting Paul and my right hand man Mike in the city, bright and early at 7am. I waited for starbucks to open, got a venti drip and headed off to the showgrounds. Setting up was a breeze thanks to having a good crew of people to help, and sharing the tent with KILL THE MUSIC. Its actually weird being at a festival all set up, but with barely any people around.

Our first sale of the day was too an under cover cop… I hope that he didn’t arrest any of our friends?

The day was a complete success, releasing 3 new tees, a bottle opener, and a tote bag, as well as meeting and catching up with many of you guys and getting to see bands like Gallows, Set Your Goals and for me, my highlight The Get Up Kids!

Anyway, I ate way too many metre long liquorices, and didn’t take anywhere near enough photos of the people that bought gear and hung out at my tent.

I hope to be back next year, but it will just depend of Paul and whether he has recovered yet from this year??

Below is some photos I took on the day –

Sydney blog, as well as FINALLY releasing the new gear online will happen over the next couple of days.. hang tight!

SYDNEY TATTOO CONVENTION 2010

March 2nd, 2010

This weekend I will finally be coming to hang out in Sydney! Its been almost 2 years since the last time I was in town, and that was literally for 48 hours, so I’m pretty excited to say the least.

In other good news, I will be bringing EVENING with me, as I’m in town for the 2nd ANNUAL SYDNEY TATTOO CONVENTION

I’m proud to announce that EVENING FOREVER will be sharing a booth and helping out my long time friend and amazing tattooist LAYLA KNIGHT.

The convention will be at the Sydney Showground – Sydney Olympic Park, from Saturday 6th to Monday the 8th of March.  The gates will be open 12pm – 10pm Saturday and Sunday, and 11am – 7pm on Monday.

In typical EVENING fashion I will have a special edition tee available at the event, as well as 2 other tees available for sale that are yet to be released online.  I will also have stickers and some accessories for sale, as well as a special edition poster I made exclusively for this occasion.

Its going to be a super busy weekend, as event organisers are expecting a ridiculous amount of people through the gates, so please, if you want to get tattooed by LAYLA or grab an awesome new tee from EVENING get out to the event early and make sure that you don’t miss out!  Also, please bring cash, as we wont have any eftpos facilities with us.

I look forward to catching up, meeting, and hanging out with all of you guys living south of the border!

SOUNDWAVE SPECIAL EDITIONS...

February 17th, 2010

What's the point of EVENING going to SOUNDWAVE this year?

That's the question I asked myself when Paul (KILL THE MUSIC) and I first started talking about us possibly  sharing a booth at Soundwave about 6 months ago. I came up with 2 answers...

1. It gives me a platform to meet and greet alot of you guys who support me and EVENING, and gives me a chance to actually hang out, chat and show my sincere thanks for your on-going support.

2. It allows me to reach out and attempt to attract the attention of new people / customers alike, who will hopefully understand and like what EVENING as a company is all about.  This will hopefully give me the ability to further create a brand image, grow the brand, and continue to create bigger and better products for us all to enjoy.

With these 2 things in mind, I became excited at the thought of being able to see some of the worlds best bands all in one place, while also being able to use this event as point for both new and old customers to hang out, meet up and catch up, in an environment that we are all stoked on!

To celebrate EVENING's presence at Soundwave, I'm excited to announce that EVENING will be releasing 3 new tees on the day (one in 2 colour ways), as well as releasing a tee specifically for the girls, while also releasing my FIRST EVER range of accessories!

These are all special edition Soundwave releases and will no doubt sell quickly on the day.  I can almost hear your next question - why would I buy a shirt first thing, as I will have to carry it around with me all day??  Well don't you worry about that, as one of the accessories being released will take care of your new tee, as well as anything else you buy on the day and are forced to 'carry' around... ;)

The new tees will be priced at $30 and $40 dollars and are limited to only 60 units (keep in mind there is 30,000 people going!).  The accessories will also be collectors items never to be released again and will be priced at $5 and $10 each, or $10 for both if you pick up a new tee as well.

There will be stickers and giveaways on the day, as well as other EVENING goodies and giveaways for anyone who shows their support and wears an EVENING tee to Soundwave or buys one of the new ones!

Please do me a favour and help me spread the word about EVENING vs KILL THE MUSIC booth, and about the products and surprises that will be available on the day!

Oh, and I couldn't write this blog without giving you a sample or 2 of what to expect on Saturday...

And just a reminder - new tees will be priced at $30 and $40 dollars and are limited to only 60 units (keep in mind there is 30,000 people going!) and accessories will be priced at $5 and $10 each, or $10 for both if you pick up a new tee as well.

Look forward to catching up, meeting up and hanging out on the day!  Any questions hit me up HERE or check the event out HERE

SOUNDWAVE 2010

February 17th, 2010

Its with pleasure that I am able to announce that EVENING will be at this years SOUNDWAVE FESTIVAL!!

EVENING will be sharing a booth at the festival this year, with my good friends from KILL THE MUSIC, a fellow indepdant brand, record and clothing store from Brisbane.  We decided to team up and help each other out, showing support for one another and taking away the financial pressure on small brands wanting to be at an event like this.

I am really looking forward to this event, as it is not only an awesome day out, with amazing bands, but it will allow me to meet and spend time with alot of you who read this blog and support EVENING and give a chance to push the brand to a new level and also release a long awaited new product... or FOUR!!

We wont be hard to miss as we will be in the market stall section of the festival, in a nice big black tent!

For anymore information hit me up HERE or follow me on TWITTER for prizes and giveaway's on the day!

See you there!

SEE YOU MANG...

February 11th, 2010

Im the first to admit that I have been a little slack on the website of late, but trust me, I have been far from lazy!  At the moment I am working 2 jobs at 60+ hours a week. Im trying to save up some money so that I can step things up for EVENING this winter, and I have also needed money so that I could buy my market tent, tables, as well as new stock and stickers, so that I can continue to run a 'POP-UP' shop once a month, and attempt to grow the company.

But to prove to you that I have been working, I am pleased to be able to announce that EVENING will have a booth at this years SOUNDWAVE festival on Satruday the 20th of February at the RNA showgrounds in Brisbane.  I will be releasing 2 new tees on the day, as well as releasing my first ever batch of 'accessories', so my advice is start saving your pennies!  I wont say too much just yet, but all I will say is that all your newly bought EVENING gear wont be too hard to 'carry' around at SOUNDWAVE ;)

Im also proud to announce that  EVENING will also be present at this years SYDNEY TATTOO CONVENTION in early March! Again I wont say too much, as more information will be coming soon, but I do look forward to hopefully being able to catch up with all of you 'mexicans' that live down south - no excuses!

In further news, last weekends THE VILLAGE MARKETS was cancelled due to bad weather, however they have rescheduled for this Sunday the 14th of February, at the usual time, at the usual spot.  Im sorry for the inconvienience, but dont worry as the same deal (sale) applies to this weekend!!

I will be doing individual updates for each event coming up over the next couple of days, so please keep checking back, but in the meantime I will leave you with a couple of videos that have made me laugh over the last week...

BRINGING IN THE NEW YEAR!

January 6th, 2010

As most of you already know... I spent Christmas at my parents place on the Sunshine Coast, doing the usual stuff, getting spoilt by Mum, surfing, stand up paddle boarding, watching movies and catching up with friends and family.

This year however, my time at Mum and Dad's was a little bit different than usual as I was able to entertain and hang out with some really good friends of mine who are practically family to me, my good friend Dan and his better half April who were up in Queensland on holidays, all the way from the big smoke of Sydney City.

Dan is better known by his alias of 1OVAKYND to which he haunts twitter but better yet takes amazing photographs! I have been friends with these 2 for years, and it was nice to introduce them to my parentals so that faces could be put to names, but also show them around where I grew up, giving them a bit of an idea why I am maybe the way I am?  We shopped for unusual gifts, hit up shopping malls and cinemas, sussed dodgy retailers, surf checked and showed them where locals go.  I kinda wished the holidays werent on, so then we would not have had to deal with the crowds, but then again, we would all be working our million or so jobs and hobbies!!

Its about now that I have to make mention that they definitely arrived in a limo of sorts... just a really small limo... let me introduce you to Dan and April and their tiny chariot!

 MR BEAN..?

We had been meaning to shoot my new gear for a while now, but kept putting it off to hang out, and talk about anything and everything, drink coffee and those 'red devils'... but after leaving the cinema on a rainy Sunday afternoon, we realised we only had a couple of hours to shoot it as they were leaving the next day...

We quickly loaded my van with all the gear and headed off down to my local beach.  The weather was terrible and surf was messy... but in usual EVENING fashion this was perfect for my style and better for Dan to mess around with the photos a little and emphasize the clouds in the background.

As we were setting up Dan and I was super busy when everything went quiet... only to notice that April came back to us saying 'careful over there', to which we notice she was completely wet from head to toe and had been hit by a wave... it was one of the funniest things we had ever seen and one of those 'you probs had to be there moments' but either way men... take note on how to make a woman be quiet... send em to the edge of a rock shelf ;)

Heres the final products of the NEW EVENING FOREVER RASHIE photoshoot... hope you dig... as I know we are really stoked with how they have come out!

 SURF'S UP!

April was telling me how she calls Dan, her PTB - otherwise known as her PART TIME BOYFRIEND. Between his work, photography, computer, iphone, apps and twitter, she doesnt really get to see that much of him when he isnt working on his monitor tan!  I dont think I would be much different so we decided to stick to what we do best and shoot some photos with us on our phones... me in sitting in the back of my car to which you will often find me sifting through stock and just hiding from the sun and the real world! Dan doesnt stress too much, so I shot him 'casually' leaning on the front of my car, then shot him messing with my mums christmas lights out the front of their house... dont tell her we messed with her lights but ;)

Heres the final products of the NEW LAYLA TEE and NEW EF TEE photoshoot... I feel they fit both Dan and my personalities perfectly... they are also pretty awesome photos!!

PTB!

The new products are up on the online store SHOP.EVENINGFOREVER.COM so dont waste any time and go check them out now!! There is only a super limited amount of the rashies in stock as they were rather expensive to produce - but I'm proud to say that they are still cheaper then any surf shop!!

I would like to take this moment to thank Dan for taking the photos for me.. Go check out more of Dan's work at his website www.1ovakynd.com or click HERE
